Sustainability

Responsible commerce—built for a marketplace. We push for truthful claims, better product information, and lower-waste fulfillment decisions that actually move the needle.

No greenwashing, no vague promises—just clear standards and practical improvements.

Truthful claims

Sellers must be specific and able to substantiate sustainability statements.

Less waste

Better sizing + better info = fewer returns and fewer re-shipments.

Smarter packaging

Right-sized, protective packaging with practical material choices.

Reliable delivery

Accurate tracking and consistent fulfillment rules reduce waste and fraud.

We continuously update these standards as the marketplace grows and new categories launch.

IMPORTANT: Sustainability is not a label—it’s a set of tradeoffs. Shopperoll is a marketplace that connects shoppers with independent Sellers, and we are not the manufacturer of most Products. Our role is to set clear standards for truthful Listings, reduce avoidable waste in the marketplace experience, and keep our claims practical, measurable, and transparent. Where Sellers make sustainability claims, they are responsible for accuracy and substantiation, and we may request proof and take action if claims are misleading.
This page should be read alongside our Seller Terms, Terms of Service, and Privacy Notice.

I. OUR APPROACH TO RESPONSIBLE COMMERCE

We focus on what a marketplace can control: (1) truth and transparency in Listings and claims, (2) durability and longevity signals (care, materials, construction details), (3) lower-waste fulfillment practices where feasible (packaging guidance, consolidated shipping options when available, and clear tracking), and (4) accountability through enforcement against misleading claims, prohibited items, and unsafe products. Our goal is to help you make better decisions—not to promise perfection.

II. WHAT WE ENCOURAGE (BUY LESS, BUY BETTER, KEEP LONGER)

We encourage Sellers to offer Products that hold up over time and to provide the information shoppers actually need: accurate sizing and fit guidance, materials and composition, care instructions, repairability notes when relevant, and clear photos that reflect the real item. When shoppers can buy the right thing the first time, returns and waste go down. When Sellers disclose honestly, trust goes up.

III. SELLER STANDARDS FOR CLAIMS AND CONTENT

Truthful claims only. Sellers must not make vague or absolute sustainability claims (e.g., “100% eco-friendly,” “carbon neutral,” “zero impact”) unless they can substantiate them with credible documentation and scope details. Claims must be specific (what, where, how, and which part of the product). No greenwashing. If a claim could mislead a reasonable shopper, we may remove the claim, hide the Listing, restrict the Store, or request clarification/proof. IP and authenticity. Counterfeit or misleading origin claims are prohibited. Authenticity and safety always come first.

IV. MATERIALS, SOURCING, AND ATTRIBUTES

Some Listings may include structured attributes (e.g., “recycled content,” “organic materials,” “responsibly sourced,” “handmade,” “made-to-order,” “low-waste packaging”). These are meant to be signals — not guarantees. Sellers are responsible for ensuring attributes match the Product and for keeping supporting records (supplier specs, certifications, chain-of-custody documents, or other evidence). Where an attribute is category-specific, local law or marketplace policy may require extra disclosures (for example, fiber composition labeling for apparel).

V. PACKAGING AND FULFILLMENT PRACTICES

Packaging is one of the most immediate areas for waste reduction. We encourage Sellers to use right-sized packaging, avoid unnecessary plastic where feasible, and choose recycled/recyclable materials when practical—without compromising product protection. Sellers should avoid excessive inserts and prioritize clear digital post-purchase guidance (care, returns, tracking). Where supported, platform tools may help standardize label formats, improve tracking accuracy, and reduce preventable shipping errors.

VI. SHIPPING, TRACKING, AND “FIRST-TIME-RIGHT” DELIVERY

Shipping impact is heavily influenced by failed deliveries, returns, and re-ships. We design for “first-time-right” delivery: validated addresses where possible, clear handling times, accurate tracking, and strong communication. Sellers should ship within their stated handling windows and provide reliable tracking. Shopperoll may rely on carrier tracking events to determine delivery status for support workflows, disputes, and eligibility windows—because consistent rules reduce waste and fraud for everyone.

VII. RETURNS, EXCHANGES, AND CIRCULARITY

Returns are sometimes necessary, but they carry cost and footprint. We encourage Sellers to reduce avoidable returns through accurate sizing, fit notes, and clear photos, and to offer sensible resolution options when issues happen (replacement parts, exchanges, partial refunds where lawful, or repair guidance). Return policies must be clear and compliant with applicable law. Where permitted, Sellers may use restocking fees or exclusions only when transparently disclosed and lawful. When feasible, we encourage circular options (repair, resale, donation partnerships, or re-commerce programs) rather than disposal.

VIII. MEASUREMENT, REPORTING, AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

We aim to improve using real operational signals: return rates, delivery success, dispute rates, packaging guidance adoption, and policy enforcement outcomes. Over time, we may publish aggregated marketplace insights (for example, category-level returns trends or common fit issues) to help Sellers improve and help shoppers make better choices. We do not promise specific environmental outcomes, but we do commit to practical improvements and to avoiding exaggerated marketing claims.

IX. WHAT YOU CAN DO (PRACTICAL STEPS)

For shoppers: use sizing guides, review materials/care info, choose quality over volume, and consolidate purchases when possible. For Sellers: keep Listings accurate, avoid vague claims, ship on time with correct tracking, use right-sized packaging, and document any sustainability attributes you present. Small changes at scale matter—especially when they reduce returns and re-shipments.
